Dabie mountain area is located on the border of Hubei Province, Henan Province and Anhui Province. Due to their remote geographical location, diversified landscapes, sparsely located population, poorly development communications, education and health facilities, the economic development of the area remains slow, Dabie mountain area is one of the poorest areas in Anhui province. More than 37% of poor people in Anhui province live in this area. This project will cover sites in Yuexi county, Huoshan county and Taihu county which are the State Poverty-stricken Counties.
This project will provide high-quality livestock, such as pigs and cattle to 400 families in eight villages which suffered from a disastrous snowstorm in Huoshan, Yuexi and Taihu counties. Training will also be provided to the recipient families to cover topics including, 12 Cornerstones, the Values-Based Holistic Community Development model, natural disaster resistance, biogas usage and maintenance. This project will also focus on improving community education levels & health condition and strengthening law consciousness. Another 590 families will benefit by "Passing on the Gift".
