Heifer Read to Feed Event Appeal to Help for the Less Fortunate


Heifer recipients participated in the Mar 15, 2011 Heifer Read to Feed Event, with Mr Antony Leung, Heifer HK Chairman, Mr Peter Wong, HSBC Chief Executive Asia Pacific, and Mr Lai Yiu Cheung, Star of Heifer School Program 10-11.

 

Mr Lai took part in a play alongside local students which showcased the hard lives of children in rural China. The audience was thrilled to watch live performance of Mr Lai.

 

Another highlight of the event was the "Deep Litter System Pigsty Building" competition. Mr Antony Leung and Mr Peter Wong led competing groups of local students and mainland teenagers to compete in two groups. With the advice given by the mainland teenagers, both groups finished the competition quickly and accurately!

Lai interviews the China teenager to learn about their lives and the difficulties they face The idea for the "Deep Litter System Pigsty Building" competition was generated from the technique that Heifer uses when teaching rural families. In this competition, the right materials must be chosen to create a "pigsty"

 

We're honored to have Mr Peter Wong, HSBC Chief Executive Asia Pacific, to be our officiating guest. He encourages Hong Kong students to care for and help needy people. HSBC was the title sponsor of the 10-11 Read to Feed program, HSBC matched the donation given by students to encourage more students to help struggling families in China get out of poverty The guests and local students give the recipients story books to bring back home to share with their friends
