Adopt a Village
Sichuan Earthquake Rehabilitation Project

China's Sichuan and Chonging provinces were hit by a 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12. Tens of thousands have been killed or left homeless. A great number of farming households lost their livestock in the quake and thus their tool for making a living. This rehabilitation project will assist 4,000 families to re-establish themselves with meat goats, pigs, ducks and/or geese and related training on animal production. An additional 9,000 households will be assisted by "Passing on the Gift." Click to give.
Poverty Alleviation Project in Nanjiang & Tongjiang

This project will assist 260 farm families in Nanjiang and Tongjiang counties, providing goats, sows, piglets and 300 cattle. Participants will be provided with training in group management, livestock production management and environmental protection, as well as the Heifer Cornerstones and gender justice. The project will not only increase the income of the communities, but also the participants' organizational capacity by strengthening cooperation, developing and understanding co-development and fostering group problem-solving skills. Another 260 families will benefit through "passing on the gift" within five years.
To help the villagers in Nanjiang and Tongjiang, the project will require a budget of HKD2.4million. Heifer International- Hong Kong has been awarded a HKD1.2 million matching grant to support this project. But we only get that HKD1.2 million if we can match the amount with gifts from supporters like you. Please give now to help us get it. Click to give.
