Use of Race to Feed 2009 Donations

Donations raised through Race to Feed 2009 will go towards Heifer's program in Tibet, Sichuan and Yunnan to lift rural families out of poverty.

Around 600 original families will be able to improve their livelihood through raising livestock, including dairy cows, pigs, goats. With Heifer's assistance, the families will form self-help groups which ensure that changes made possible through donations will be sustainable. Besides, training on animal management, holistic community development, hygiene, health & environmental protection, HIV/AIDS prevention and gender equity etc. will be provided. Within 3 years, an additional 1200 families will be assisted through "Passing on the Gift", thereby multiplying the impact of gifts given by donors.
